Eligible DVA Gold and White Card holders may be able to access mental health services through the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Please contact us to discuss your eligibility and referral requirements.
Telehealth consultations are available for many clients and are charged at the same rate as face-to-face appointments. Please contact us to discuss whether telehealth is suitable for your needs.
You may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan, which is a formal referral written by a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist for you or your child. Your doctor will determine your eligibility based on your symptoms. Symptoms that may meet criteria for a Mental Health Care Plan include depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, and others.
Medicare rebates vary depending on the type of practitioner, with rebates of $101.55 for a registered psychologist to $149.05 for a clinical psychologist. Mental Health Accredited Social Worker rebates are $89.50.
When making an appointment with your doctor, please advise that you would like to initiate a Mental Health Care Plan with a psychologist and request a longer consultation.
Your Mental Health Care Plan must be brought to your first appointment. A Medicare rebate is not available unless you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan. The Plan allows you to claim a Medicare rebate for a maximum of 10 appointments per year.
After 6 sessions, your psychologist will provide a brief progress update to your referring medical professional. Your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist will need to review your progress before renewing the Mental Health Care Plan for further sessions.
The Mental Health Care Plan is valid for 12 months from the date of referral.
If your private health insurance policy includes extras cover for psychology or counselling services, you may be able to claim part of the consultation fee. As rebates vary between health funds and levels of cover, we recommend checking directly with your insurer before your appointment.
Please note: You cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate for the same consultation.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment, or non-attendance, will incur a cancellation fee of $80.
Cancellation fees are processed automatically through Halaxy and will incur a processing fee (maximum cost of 2% plus $1 per transaction). Cancellation fees are not claimable through Medicare or private health funds.
The cancellation fee will be automatically debited from your nominated debit/credit card stored in Halaxy. If payment details have not been provided, an invoice will be issued via email or post.
All outstanding cancellation fees must be paid before a further appointment can be booked. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please speak with your practitioner or a member of our customer service team.
Your privacy and security are important to us. Credit and debit card details are securely stored in Halaxy, our practice management system, using bank-grade security and encryption and industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
